Artist Biography

b.1992
Born in Thiene, Italy, in 1992, Alessandro Fogo obtained a BA in Visual Arts from IUAV, Venice, in 2016 and an MA in Painting from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp, in 2017. Figurative in approach but surreal in composition and subject, his works juxtapose enigmatic figures across closely viewed, intensely lit settings, layering them with sacred, or profane, but never explained references to create scenes of immense dramatic and imaginative
richness.

Fogo recently completed solo shows at the Fondazione Coppola, Vicenza (IT, 2024), Gallery Vacancy, Shanghai (CN, 2023), and Musei Civici Palazzo Buonaccorsi (IT, 2023). Recent group exhibitions include a duo show with Paola Angelini at Lyles & King, New York (US, 2022), and Young artists highlights at Baeryeom’s House, Seoul (KR, 2022). Collections featuring his work include X Museum,
Beijing and Start Museum, Shanghai. He lives and works in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy.
