Artist Biography
b.1965
Born in Onyang in 1965, Jongsuk Yoon did not start training to be an artist until moving to Europe in 1995, studying at Kunstakademie Münster in 1996 and Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 1997 before earning an MA from Chelsea College of Art in 2005. Often depicting mountainous dreamlike landscapes, her works harken back to both the luminous colour fields of western Modernism and starkly beautiful the Korean countryside, through the lens of Sanshwa painting and her own cherished memories.
In 2024, she has celebrated her first American solo exhibition at Marian Goodman Gallery, Los Angeles (US), while also creating a lobby mural for Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, Vienna (AUT). She has also received solo exhibitions at House of Art of České Budějovice, Budweis (CZE, 2023) and Johyun Gallery, Busan (KR, 2022); collections featuring her work include Art Sonje Center, Seoul, SoArt, Vienna, and the Museum of New Zealand,
Wellington.
