Exhibition Highlights

Following the success of the inaugural SPACES exhibition held at Phillips London during Frieze 2024, HOFA Gallery and PhillipsX are pleased to continue their collaboration to present SPACES II: Generative Futures, a groundbreaking showcase celebrating female artists at the forefront of generative and digital art. This exhibition will coincide with Frieze LA 2025 in the Phillips Los Angeles galleries.

The inaugural edition of SPACES, held at Phillips London during Frieze 2024, brought together eight global artists whose multidisciplinary practices redefined the boundaries of artistic expression. Highlights included works by Refik Anadol, Random International, and Sougwen Chung, whose explorations of human-machine collaboration, data-driven storytelling, and immersive digital techniques captivated audiences. The selling exhibition was widely praised for challenging conventional perceptions of art while seamlessly bridging the digital and physical realms.

SPACES II: Generative Futures builds on this foundation with an all-female cohort of pioneering artists reshaping the landscape of generative and digital art. Featured artists include Maja Petric, Dhona Lumier, Gina Choy, Irem Bugdayci, Nice Aunties, Addie Wagenknecht and IX Shells, alongside returning artists from SPACES at Phillips London - Sougwen Chung and Shirin Abedinirad. Additional names will be announced in early 2025. Together, their works offer a fresh and dynamic perspective on the intersection of technology, creativity, and the human experience.

The selling exhibition will showcase diverse practices that span data-driven narratives, algorithmic design, human-machine collaboration, and immersive installations. Highlights include Maja Petric’s transformative environments, which merge light, sound, and space to reimagine humanity’s relationship with time and nature, and Sougwen Chung’s pioneering works, where a robotic arm collaborates in the painting process, exemplifying the evolution of machines as creative partners rather than mere tools. Dhona Lumier explores identity and memory through vibrant generative storytelling, while IX Shells bridges computation and culture with poetic algorithmic compositions.
