Exhibition Highlights

This summer, Phillips presents the Hong Kong Private Sales
Salon, featuring a curated selection of works by visionary artists including Zao Wou-Ki, Chen Yifei, Eddie Martinez, and more, highlighting the rich dialogue between Eastern and Western artistic traditions.

In 1980, Chen Yifei moved to New York and developed his
signature style of “Romantic Realism,” blending Western artistic traditions with Chinese aesthetics. Created in 1984, Start of the Day (Suzhou) is a quintessential example of his celebrated water-town scenes, depicting winding rivers, arched bridges, village houses, and small boats in a poetic evocation of Jiangnan's tranquil beauty and enduring human spirit.

EDDIE MARTINEZ Untitled, 2012

Eddie Martinez is an American painter and sculptor known for his energetic compositions that merge figuration and abstraction through bold brushwork and mixed media. Included here are two early works from 2012, both approachable in scale, which already demonstrate the distinctive visual language and assured synthesis of figuration and abstraction that have come to define his practice.
