Art of the Covenant: Global Africa at the Crossroads considers the idea of a spiritual contract: the bonds we hold with our ancestors, our children—some yet unborn—and ourselves. These covenants shape how we understand who we are, what we inherit, and what we carry forward. Throughout the exhibition, artists explore these relationships through works charged with memory, emotion, and transformation.

Global Africa provides the connective tissue for this exploration. More than a fixed geography, it describes a cultural network extending across continents and generations. From Lagos, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, and Accra to London, Houston, Kingston, and Brooklyn, ideas and identities circulate continuously, reshaped by the communities through which they move.

The “crossroads” of the exhibition’s title marks a moment of transformation, where old definitions give way to new questions. Technology, artificial intelligence, and quantum science are altering our understanding of time, space, and human possibility, while digital culture challenges inherited ideas of race, region, and belonging.
